Pruning and lopping to keep trees safe, healthy and clear of roofs, driveways and powerlines.
Not every problem tree needs to come down. Often the right cut keeps a healthy tree in the yard while fixing whatever is bothering you, whether it is branches scraping the roof, leaves filling the gutters or too much shade over the lawn.
Pruning versus lopping
People use the two words loosely, so here is how we see it. Pruning means selective cuts at the right points to remove deadwood, thin the canopy or lift the crown, done in a way the tree can recover from. Lopping usually means cutting back hard to reduce height or spread. Heavy lopping can stress a tree and cause weak regrowth, so we will always tell you honestly if a lighter prune or a removal is the better long-term option.
Common jobs we do
- Clearing branches off roofs, gutters and solar panels
- Crown lifting so you can walk, mow and park underneath
- Removing dead, split or hanging limbs after wind
- Thinning dense canopies to let light and breeze through
- Clearance from service lines to your house (we do not work near Energex mains; they handle those)
- Hedge and screening plant reductions
Advice from people who know trees
Our crew has many years of combined experience and our team includes a consulting arborist with a Certificate V in Arboriculture (AQF Level 5). If we spot decay, termites or a structural weakness while we are up the tree, we will tell you.
Timing
Most Sunshine Coast trees can be pruned any time, but late winter suits many species and before storm season (October to March) is a smart time to remove weak limbs.
Areas we cover
We work right across the Sunshine Coast and hinterland, including Nambour, Maleny, Montville, Buderim, Caloundra, Maroochydore, Kawana, Palmview, Sippy Downs, Palmwoods, Woombye, Mapleton, Beerwah and Landsborough. Not sure if you are in our area? Give us a call and ask.

Tree Pruning and Lopping FAQs
How often should trees be pruned?
Most garden trees benefit from a prune every two to three years. Fast growers near the house may need it yearly.
Will lopping kill my tree?
Hard lopping does not always kill a tree but it often causes weak regrowth and decay. We recommend proper pruning cuts wherever possible.
Can you prune a tree on the boundary?
Yes. Generally you can prune branches overhanging your side, and we recommend talking to your neighbour first. We can help explain what is involved.
Do you clean up afterwards?
Always. Branches are chipped and the yard is raked and blown down.
