Privacy Policy

Hinterland Tree & Stump Removal Pty Ltd (ABN 61 660 924 416, Lot 3, 21 Pignata Rd, Palmview QLD 4553) ("we", "us") respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect through this website and our Facebook and Instagram ads, how we use it, who we share it with and how you can contact us about it.
What we collect
- Quote requests: your name, phone number and suburb and, if you provide them, your email address, street address, job details and photos.
- Giveaway entries: your name, phone number, email address and suburb, confirmation that you're a Queensland resident aged 18 or over, your agreement to the giveaway terms, whether you'd like to receive offers, and (optionally) whether you have a tree job coming up.
- Facebook and Instagram lead ads: if you fill in one of our lead forms on Facebook or Instagram, Meta passes us the details you submit in that form (for example your name, phone number, email address and suburb) so we can contact you.
- How you found us: the page you used and any advertising campaign details in the link you clicked (for example UTM tags, gclid or fbclid). These are kept in your browser for up to 30 days so we can tell which ads work.
- Cookies and analytics: only if you accept cookies (see below).
How we use it
- To reply to enquiries from our Facebook and Instagram lead ads in the same way as quote requests from this website.
- To contact you about your quote, arrange a site visit and carry out the work you ask for. Quote requests are added to our job management system as a customer record and draft quote.
- To run giveaways: checking eligibility, running the draw, contacting the winner and announcing the result as set out in the giveaway terms.
- To send occasional offers or tree-care tips, only if you ticked the box to agree.
- To understand which advertising works, using cookies only if you accept them.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. This website shows a cookie notice and only loads advertising and analytics tools if you click Accept. If you decline, they aren't loaded. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. A small amount of information is always kept in your browser so the site works (for example your cookie choice and the advertising campaign details mentioned above).
- Meta Pixel: we use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to count page views and enquiries that come from our Facebook and Instagram ads, and to show our ads to people who have visited this site. Meta receives information such as the pages you view, your browser and device details, your IP address and, when you send an enquiry, the fact that an enquiry was made. Meta's use of this information is covered by Meta's own privacy policy, and you can manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.
- Google Analytics, Google Ads and Google Tag Manager: we may add these Google tools to measure visits and the performance of our Google ads. If we do, they'll follow the same cookie choice. Google's use of this information is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that host and run our website, job management system and email, including Vercel (website hosting and file storage) and Google (Gmail). Some email or messaging services we use may also process your details.
- Meta and Google as described in Cookies and analytics above, if you accept cookies, and Meta for enquiries made through our Facebook and Instagram lead ads.
- Stihl Shop Nambour (the giveaway prize supplier): only the winner's name and contact details, so the prize can be collected.
- Anyone we're required to share it with by law.
We don't sell your personal information.
Overseas storage
Some of our providers store or process data outside Australia. In particular, Meta, Google and Vercel are based in the United States and may store or process information there and in other countries. We take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate security, but by using this website you acknowledge your information may be handled overseas.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests from people who don't go ahead: deleted within 2 years.
- Customer records (quotes, jobs and invoices): kept for as long as we're required to for tax and business record-keeping, generally 7 years.
- Giveaway entries: deleted 12 months after the draw, except the winner's details (kept as a record of the promotion) and the details of entrants who agreed to receive offers (kept until they unsubscribe).
Email and SMS offers, and unsubscribing
If you agreed to receive offers, you can stop them at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email, replying STOP to any SMS, or contacting us on 0477 732 170 or hinterlandtrees@gmail.com. Unsubscribing doesn't affect any quote or giveaway entry.
Security
Your information is stored in private, access-controlled systems. Photos and enquiry details can only be viewed by us after logging in.
Access and correction
You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us on 0477 732 170 or hinterlandtrees@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first on 0477 732 170 or hinterlandtrees@gmail.com and tell us what happened. We'll look into it and respond in writing within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
